Hand-painted furniture by Artem Painters

Some pieces deserve more than a tin of chalk paint.

From a single heirloom piece to built-in joinery, we prep and finish furniture properly — grain filled, primed, lacquered and hand-finished so it looks right and wears right. No chalky drag lines, no peeling after six months.

Heirloom dressers from Crystal Palace, Ikea hacks from Brixton, built-in alcove cupboards in Wimbledon terraces — we handle furniture painting across Croydon, South London and Leicester. Small movable pieces can come to our workshop for dust-controlled finishing; larger built-ins and antiques are done on-site. We specify Zinsser BIN for knots and stains, grain-filler on open-grain oak, water-based primer on pine and MDF, and finish with Tikkurila furniture lacquers or Frenchic for clients who prefer a soft chalk-wax feel. For a wardrobe-sized piece, allow 3–5 days from drop-off to collection; heirloom restorations with intricate details take longer.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this service. Something else on your mind? Just ask.

A single piece typically takes 3–5 days including prep, primer, topcoats and drying. Built-ins and kitchens take longer — we'll give you a firm schedule in the quote.

Yes — but only with adhesion primers specified for non-porous surfaces. Done right it lasts; done wrong it peels. Which is why we don't take shortcuts.

Both. Small movable pieces can come to our workshop for a dust-controlled finish. Large wardrobes, built-ins and heirloom pieces we handle on-site.

Yes — bring or send a sample (paint chip, fabric, even a photo in some cases) and we'll mix to match.

With proper prep, the right primer and a lacquer top-coat, yes. Our finishes survive real family life — not just show-home photos.

Yes — and we'll collect smaller pieces for workshop finishing within a ~20-mile radius of Croydon. Built-in furniture and large free-standing pieces in Leicester are painted on-site. For heirloom or antique pieces we prefer a site visit so we can assess the piece properly before quoting.

Usually yes, with notice. Primer and lacquer systems have minimum cure times (Frenchic: 3 days; 2-pack lacquer: 7 days for full cure) which we build into the schedule. Tell us the deadline when you get in touch and we'll tell you honestly whether it's possible.
